Since the 1930s, the Buena Vista district of Havana has been a synonym for a focal point of Cuban musical tradition. ThIs district and its music have had an inspiring effect on the musicians of Cuban musks and dance of past generations.
LIVE FROM BUENA VISTA – THE HAVANA LOUNGE - gives an insight into the wide range of the traditional styles of the Son which came together again in a kind of melting pot in and around Buena Vista.
Chan Chan as well as Son classics and other new compositions yet unknown in Europe and in North America are performed.
THE HAVANA LOUNGE is a union of Top Stars of Havana's traditional music scene, many of them are also well known already in Europe.
Top stars are: Lazara Cachao who has made many worlwide tours with the"Buena Vista Social Club".
Calixto Oviedo the most famous percussion player of the "Afro Cuban All stars" and a "wizard" of the Timbales joins the company.
Evelio Galan, vocalist, is one of the finest Singers from the "Afro Cuban All Stars". He is brim full of this special esprit between a sparkling flame and tender Cuban Cigar smoke. He also worked with Ibrahim Ferrer, Compay Secundo and many other Top Stars of the Cuban music scene for many years.
Included, in addition, there are Amik Guerra, trumpeter from the "Buena Vista Social Club", Alberto "Molote" Munoz, trombone player from the "Afro Cuban All Stars" and the "Buena Vista Social Club," as well as the Singer Jose Jill Pineda, from the "Afro Cuban All Stars".
This constellation is joined by young musicians who have dedicated their musical skills to traditional music.
